A Simple Question

by admin on Mar.12, 2010, under Cyberdefender

Are you on the lookout for a new computer? Well here’s a simple question to help get your shopping under way: Do you want it to work?

If you’re anything like 99.99% of the population, the answer will be a resounding yes.

And while it’s true that both a traditional PC and a Mac will both work out of the box, there is a distinct difference in just how well they’ll continue to operate in the long run.

With a faster boot time, a reliable (and virtually virus free) operating system, and a sleep/wake system that leaves PCs in the dust, a Mac is bound to not only work better, but help YOU work better as well. (More on Mac’s sleep modes, operating system, and virus fighting skills are to come in later blogs)

Then there’s the application dilemma.

When you pull a PC out of the box, it comes loaded with trial versions of all manner of software apps vying for your attention and, ultimately, your hard earned money. With Macs , you don’t have to worry about that. What they do come with, however, is a bundle of applications to help you organize your photos, edit videos, organize your schedule and lots of other things to make your life easier.

And if you ever need to trouble shoot your Mac, there are three applications readily accessible to help you do this: Activity Monitor, Console, and Disk Utility.

These apps are easy to find, even easier to use, and between the three of them you should be able to figure out what’s wrong.

Then there’s the fact that the fit and finish of Mac computers is just more aesthetically pleasing than those of PCs. Forget blinking lights, creaky plastic parts and poorly laid out design. The aluminum case on the new MacBook Pro, for example, is sleek, snug and downright cool to look at.

So, do you want your computer to work? Of course you do. Do you want it to work faster, easier, and more efficiently?

Guess it’s time to look into a Mac.

Hello world!

by admin on Mar.03, 2010, under Cyberdefender

My name is Elizabeth, and I’m a Mac.

In fact, I’m a proud Mac. I love absolutely everything about my computer—from its fabulous operating system to its ridiculously fast boot up, and everything in between.

The truth is, I haven’t always been a Mac. Though it pains me to say it, there was a time when I was a (shiver) PC. But about 3 years ago, I made the switch. Yes, it took a little getting used to. But I am oh so very glad I did. And I haven’t looked back since.

So with all the talk of Windows 7 lately (including the commercial with the over caffeinated French woman that my friends insist looks like me) do I regret making the switch? Have I thought about going back to my old PC ways? Am I tempted to stray?

NOPE!

In fact, I decided to start this blog… so that I may further share my love of all things Apple with all of you fellow Mac junkies out there. And who knows, maybe even convert a few nonbelievers in the process.

Now, I know that Mac users have developed a sort of reputation for being (how shall I put this?) a little snobby about their computers. It’s been said that we feel a sense of superiority over the lowly masses that continue to buy into the Windows idea.

Personally, I don’t think it’s superiority or conceit. I think its passion!
We’re genuinely loving our Mac way of life, and have no problem telling you all about it…

So join me on a blogging adventure, won’t you? Questions, comments, tasteful arguments, thoughtful insights, and funny anecdotes are always welcome.
